Stuck on a train
I went to manila last monday, most of my friends and cousins were busy for the week so I didn’t get to do much except work.
My flight back home today was 5 in the afternoon. By around 1pm I was at this friend’s office, and from there the airport was just a 10 minute ride. The check in counter will still close at 4pm and I had a hell lot of time to kill. I hadn’t eaten lunch, I only had half a sandwich and a coffee since I woke up and I was hungry. I took the MRT to this mall to grab something fancy to eat and buy a book to read later, the ride was 15 minutes and either way it would still be a 15 minute ride back.

I took a heavy meal in some japanese fastfood but then I had this funny gut feeling to forget about buying a book. Maybe because I felt that the flight would only last an hour and besides they would probably have newspapers up on the plane, or it was my scrooge consciousness again telling me keep my dough intact in my pockets, or it must have been my brain acting on a full stomach. So I just took the MRT back and midway through we stopped and hell I found out that one of the trains on the other side of the track got busted and it jammed train traffic on the tracks. It left the trains moving on a turtle pace, stopping every once in a while like it was catching up with its breath and driving me nuts knowing I had a plane to catch soon. It was worse than getting stuck in traffic in a car, you cant see what’s going on in front, you can cant switch routes and you’re stuck inside. The whole train cruise ate 20 more minutes of my time making the trip more than half an hour.
I made it to the airport before 4. Since I passed the thought of getting a book to read for the rest of the day, it was pretty boring from the airport thereon, I had to settle for the expensive airport coffee that tasted like tea, and they didn’t even have newspapers on the plane and the in-flight coffee wasn’t any better. Got home right in time for dinner and my mother’s birthday.
